Luka Aničić
Luka Aničić was born in Rijeka (Croatia) in 1980. With great difficulty, he finished the first grade of primary school, and the rest somewhat little easier. He boxed his way through the Eugen Kumičić High School in Opatija. In 1998 he enrolled in the study of philosophy and history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka. He graduated in 2005 and for the next few years worked as a professor of history, later as an archivist. In 2010, he wanted to study again, so he enrolled in a doctoral study in the field of humanities. He received his PhD in 2018.
Since his high school days (1996) he has been involved in music, playing bass guitar and percussion. As a member of different music collectives he has released several studio albums and played many concerts…
He has been painting since 2013. (NOWDAYS HE IS SOLELY DEDICATED TOWARDS CREATING ABSTRACT ART.)
The author accepts the perception of his art within the framework of an abstract narrative, given that his painting is based on a magical relationship between line and colour. The works are in fact a result of a meditative process via which the artist moves away from the material, and thus the figurative, and enters his unique world of geometric forms and colour.
Aničić describes his art with the term anti-conceptual landscapes, landscapes that come from his world of imagination that will lead the observer to a completely new place. Therefore, this anti-conceptual landscape, which has a deliberate lack of “something concrete” or familiar, brings the viewer closer to the essence of fine arts as Aničić sees them.
